It occurred to me as I pounded the Z and X keys in rapid succession that this was the first game I had ever played where natural, time sensitive defecation seemed to be given a much deserved nod in the industry. Cactus’ Norrland certainly can’t be considered mainstream gaming but his presence in the indie game community is undisputable and, therefore hundreds if not thousands of people out there have participated in his fecal epiphany. Norrland is an interactive portrayal of the “Northland” of Sweden that harkens all too much to the fabulously southern, redneck society of North America. In the game, one burns trash, drinks beer, hunts, defecates, and masturbates only to be infrequently interrupted by disturbing homophobic dream sequences or those depicting various methods of suicide. My personal favorite is slowly driving a knife into your own skull which creator cactus explains, when questioned as to its level of difficulty, "Just tap until your fingers bleed. Imagine how much will power you must gather to stab yourself in the head if you need a reason for why it's a bit difficult :)"
